2019 JDRF Real Estate Games Recap

On Thursday, June 6, CRC CARES members participated in the 30th annual JDRF Real Estate Games at American University in Washington, D.C. Members went head-to-head against other DMV real estate professionals to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. This year, the JDRF Real Estate Games raised over $717,000, breaking last year’s record of $528,000.

The JDRF Real Estate Games hosted traditional field day events like an early morning 5K run, singles and doubles tennis, volleyball, corn hole, and tug of war. Unconventional competitions like bouncy ball, chair, and toy horse relays and a pool noodle javelin throw rounded out the day’s activities.

In addition to raising money for a great cause, the Games were a great team-building opportunity for CRC CARES members.

The JDRF Real Estate Games has raised over $10 million and has grown exponentially in the 30 years since its inception. The 2019 DC JDRF Real Estate Games alone broke its previous records with 3,000 participants, 130 companies, and $717,000 raised in donations this year. JDRF has expanded the Games and now hosts the Real Estate Games in New York and Chicago. Its goal is to launch this event in Los Angeles, London, Toronto, Nashville, Tampa, and Indianapolis by 2021.

“Today we celebrate community and commitment and hope,” JDRF Real Estate Games event founder, Adam Singer, said. “Our D.C. commercial real estate group is a model of philanthropy to other industries in the region. Here we are, taking a day off to cure diabetes.”
